Opening Zipped Files

Many of the files available for download from Vertex42.com are zipped (i.e. compressed) and have a file extension of ".zip". This is done to make the file size smaller and allow faster download. In some cases, files are zipped to combine multiple files into a single download. For example, some downloads contain README.txt files that provide further instructions for installation and use.

Instructions for Files With a .zip Extension

  • Downloading: Depending on your browser and operating system, you may need to "right-click" on the link and select "Save Target As..."

  • Unzip: You will need to "unzip" the file using a program such as Winzip®. You can download a free evaluation version of WinZip® at www.winzip.com.

Note: Windows XP comes with a built-in "unzip" utility. Right-click on the .zip file and select "Extract all..."
