What Would You Like to See Added to Vertex42?

V42B Community template request

Do you have a need for a spreadsheet template, but can't find what you want? Submit your idea and you might get your wish.

Both of my most recent templates, the Vehicle Maintenance Log and the Business Mileage Tracker, came directly from requests from users.

At the risk of taking on more than I can handle, I'm making an offer to create at least one of the spreadsheet template ideas shared via this post. I'm not sure how long it will take to get people to submit ideas, so I'll just say that I will create the first thing that I think is feasible to make. Oh, and the end result will be free to download.

ALL of the great ideas will be added to my to do list, but for now I'm just going to commit to making at least one of the requested templates in the near term.

Most of my motivation for creating new templates comes from either a personal interest in the subject or because somebody makes a polite request for help. Although a template might require almost no Excel experience to use as-is, customizing a template significantly can require near-guru status. So, I welcome the feedback that helps me create better, more flexible, and easier-to-use templates.

Here are some other templates where the template itself or variations of the template were created specifically at the request of Vertex42 fans:

Even if you'd like to just see a minor change made to a particular template, please feel free to make the suggestion.

  • More options for google sheet templates, vs excel. I typially am an excel person however my laptop shut down and I cannot get it on again, so unfortunately I am stuck with google docs, sheets, etc. right now and there is very few options for your templates in the google.
    More advanced project management templates
an entire folder should be created for ‘new business’ with every template within that folder that a new business should ideally keep track of *very hard to find online* and maybe options such as construction business (fence business, what i own), office business, hair salon, etc. etc.

  • In the original monthly calendar template, I would love to be able to have the ability to enter a text note for the second Wednesday of the month or the 30th of the month etc etc and have it apply when changing the month…. it would be invaluable for tracking bills due on a certain day of each month for instance.
Otherwise, I love it and use it daily. Thank you

  • Using calendar with holidays: Can you give me a hint on how to enter an event that occurs on the 6th of each month . I am entering the year ..and 6 under weekday but nothing shows up under date. I have successfully, I think, entered an event for each Wed of the month by entering Year=2022 .. month=1 (etc) .. week=2 .. weekday=4
I would love to add the events entries to the original Interactive monthly calendar template if possible.

    • Each event needs it’s own entry in the Events worksheet. So if you wanted 12 events, each on the 6th of each month, you’d need 12 rows with the difference between each row being the number of the month. If you manually enter the date of the first event, then you could use =EDATE(date_cell_above,1) to make the date of the next row be one month after the previous row.

  • Hi Jon
Could you add a lead lag column to the gantt chart pro?

    Thanks

    • @Geoffrey … I’m assuming you want this to be affected/used by the Predecessor feature. This has been requested before, and I could probably add this as a beta feature for now (column hidden and blank by default). I’ll email you a version for you to test.

        • @Geoffrey … Done. I’ve updated Gantt Chart Pro version 5.0 to include a lead/lag column (hidden by default just to the right of the Predecessors column).

  • If you are still taking ideas a 2 page lined monthly planner would be awesome. So may have open blocks with no lines to write on within the block.

  • We use the vehicle maintenance log for our fleet of trucks. While all the necessary columns are utilized, is there a way to insert an invoice to the spreadsheet? I tried to copy paste and it didn’t work. I would put the invoice in the Notes column; or if adding a column would be doable. Has to be a simple process right?!

    • @Diane, Yes – adding a column for an invoice number should be pretty simple. Or, do you mean that you want to put an actual copy of the entire invoice form into a single cell? If you were using Google Sheets, you could insert an image of the invoice into a cell. Spreadsheet.com would also allow that.

  • I would love to see a sleep log put on vertex! It would really be a big help to me. Maybe others would benefit as well. I absolutely adore this site by the way! Keep up the great work!

  • I would like to suggest a new spreadsheet template for tracking and forecasting medication costs for Medicare Part D participants. The spreadsheet would help to identify if and when a user will enter into the coverage gap and the expected costs while in the gap, as well as when the gap would be exited.
    The spreadsheet should include:
    1) the annual Medicare benefit
    2) the deductible for the plan
    3) Medication Tiers
    4) Medicare Part D Phases and the cost while in each phase.
    5) Cost of medication, both co-pays and contracted cost (to the insurer).
    6) Other information that would be beneficial dosage and frequency for taking medication (e.g., 1 or 2 per day, per month, etc.)
