High Throughput Testing (HTT) or Pairwise Testing is a technique for generating test cases when you want to minimize the number of tests but want to make sure that you cover all possible two-way combinations of factors that may have two or more levels. Comparison to DOE:
For two factors, HTT is identical to the 2^2 full factorial design. For three factors with 2 levels each, HTT is identical to the 2^(3-1) fractional factorial design. That's were the similarity ends. For MORE factors and MORE levels, HTT will often result in a 50% reduction in the number of test cases.
Pro-Test makes it easy to generate HTT designs! For a list of features and white papers about Pro-Test and the advantages of HTT, see http://sigmazone.com/protest_features.htm and http://sigmazone.com/protest_pairwise.htm
Features of Pro-Test: - All Possible Combinations Test Case Generation
- Test Cases can be Constrained
- Previous Test can be considered in Test Case Generation
- Export Test Cases to a variety of formats
